For more on Britain's election, CCTV America's Phillip Yin spoke to economist and investment adviser Patrick Young, who's in Poland. Like the UK, Poland has deep reservations about joining the single currency - the Euro.
In the wake of events in Ukraine, NATO has turned its attention towards countries that border the Russian Federation — attempting to boost its quick-response capabilities in Europe. In September, the alliance agreed to create a 5,000-strong rapid reaction Spearhead Force, which will be capable of deploying across the continent within 48-hours of a military incursion. VICE News joined several thousand NATO troops in western Poland, for the first deployment test of the "Very High Readiness Joint Task Force." According to the premise of the exercise, Poland and the Baltics were under threat from the fictional state of “Bothnia” — a master of conventional and hybrid warfare. NATO forces had been ordered to deploy, and quickly, to Poland. During the deployment test, NATO’s top diplomat Secret...
President Obama reminds the American people that all citizens of the U.S. are descended from immigrants. Watch the full speech here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lVIuW8vJ_E "Immigration's always been an issue that inflames passions. That's not surprising. There are a few things that are more important to us as a society than who gets to come here and call our country home. Who gets the privilege of becoming a citizen of the United States of America. That's a big deal. When we talk about that in the abstract, it is easy sometimes for the discussion to take on a feeling of us versus them. And when that happens, a lot of folks forget that most of us used to be them. We forget that. And it's really important for us to remember history. Unless you're one of the first Americans, a Native Am...
The legality of cannabis for general or recreational use varies from country to country. Possession of cannabis is illegal in most countries as a result of the agreement about Indian hemp, also known as hashish, in the International Opium Convention (1925). In the United States, medical cannabis is allowed by some state, territorial, Indian reservation, and District of Columbia law, but medical and recreation use is illegal by federal law. While federal law is controlling, the Obama administration has chosen not to prosecute users operating in compliance with local medical marijuana laws. As of 2016, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Germany, India, Jamaica, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, some U.S. states, Native A...
10 Best Places to Visit in Poland Life has not been easy for Poland, an eastern European country that has been invaded and destroyed many times over the centuries. The country suffered mightily in World War II when many of its citizens, including its large Jewish population, were hustled off to Nazi concentration camps. The Polish spirit, however, refused to die and today the country combines medieval architecture with lively cultural activities to meet the needs of modern tourists. An overview of the best places to visit in Poland: 10. Malbork 9. Lublin 8. Bialowieza Forest 7. Torun 6. Tatra National Park 5. Poznan 4. Wroclaw 3. Gdansk 2. Warsaw 1. This was our first trip to Poland and we dove into the capital headfirst. While our travels may have started in the charming Old Town, it wasn't long before we discovered that Warsaw has a cool artsy side. We visited bright neon museums in the art district, shopped in boutiques selling soviet-chic apparel, and got to experience the capital's legendary nightlife. It many ways it was a whirlwind visit, but it was also a fun introduction that made us curious to discover more of Poland in our future travels. The following video will highlight 25 things to do in Warsaw and give you a glimpse into this up and coming capital. https://www.expedia.com/Warsaw.d178317.Destination-Travel-Guides For centuries Warsaw has been a center of refinement and knowledge. Its strategic position has also made it one of the most invaded countries in Europe. Shaped by history’s defining events, World War Two, and the closing of the Iron Curtain, Warsaw is a survivor, and has risen from the ashes of war and the shackles of Communism. Its true heart is its Old Town, the site of the Warsaw Uprising, one of the most heroic resistance actions ever seen against the nazis. After the war much of it, such as the opulent Royal Castle, was painstakingly rebuilt. One of the few statues not destroyed by the German army, is the mermaid Syrena, the symbol and protector of Warsaw. Visit St Johns Cathedral and St Anne’s Church, whose interio...

Warsaw - Poland Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Warsaw - Poland Travel Guide, Tourism http://goo.gl/HmkEIN Warsaw is a large and sprawling city of more than 1.7 million people that is split into somewhat uneven halves by the Wisła (Vistula) River. Most everything of interest to visitors is on the western side of the river around the modern financial district. Its centrepiece is the landmark Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki), a Socialist-Realist confection which can be seen from virtually anywhere in the city. The epicentre of Warsaw for visitors is the so-called Royal Route (Trakt Królewski), which runs north-south from the New and Old Towns, past the fashionable shops of Nowy Świat, the palaces that survived the war...
Wandering among the endless hills, lakes and mountains of Southeast Poland, one can find cities, medieval castles, grandiose palaces and rich museums, each one more interesting than the previous. The city core of Krakow, with its old streets and squares offer us the feeling of the happy, old days. The Wawel district, which is built on a hill, fort walls and bastions protect the royal palace and the cathedral. The astonishingly great square of the old marketplace is surrounded by medieval houses, and is busy all day and all night. The restaurants tempt the travelers with food prepared from wild mushrooms and berries, game and cabbage. The religious buildings keep the memory of the late Pope, John Paul II. the late Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. From Krakow we can take a trip to the Wiel...
Kraków's bubbly Baroque and cobbled charm is emerging as the exciting "next Prague." Nearby, a visit to Auschwitz teaches us a timeless, soul-searching lesson. Systematically destroyed during World War II, Warsaw is a lively, thriving capital once again. © 2004 Rick Steves' Europe

The duo didn’t know what to expect, but the search led to serendipitous moments and immediate connections with new family. Please consider supporting this upcoming, month-long, artistic fieldwork residency with Yiddishkayt's Helix Project, conducting embodied, artistic fieldwork in former sites of Yiddish culture. This video, along with clips from a performance piece, was submitted with my application to Helix. Warning: it's raw and windy!! The funds I seek to raise will support the final leg of this (actual) journey with Yiddishkayt, covering costs of one month travelling in Belarus and Poland. In addition to Helix's curriculum, I will let my body guide the experience, gathering source material including text, photographs, sound recordings, and movement scores as we travel through former Yiddish cultural centers. These fragments will be reimagined and recontextualized for performance. Your support goes dir...
